How it all began
"If you can do two clean spins, I'll take you to London!". This is the bet Patricia Chatchueng launched to her students in 2007. The challenge was taken seriously and that same year in July, the Street Jazz teacher goes with her students to the tumultuous British capital. The weekend was thrilling, the experience at Pineapple Dance Studio indescribable. Two years later, she created the NGO Agapé Voyages. Since then, hundreds of people had the chance to experience dance all around the world (New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, Kingston, etc.)
From Agapé Voyages to Gossa Travel
In 2020, the pandemic immobilizes the world population. Traveling becomes impossible. Agapé Voyages is forced to close. Two years later, Patricia revisits the adventure with a new concept. Indeed, lockdown has created new habits and desires. The amateur dancer of the younger generations is now thirsty for reconnection with others and with nature. He/she needs purpose and authenticity. He/she also understands the power of mentorship to achieve his goals. It is based on this reflection that Gossa was born.
GOSSA
Gossa ( ጎሳ ) means “ tribe ” in Amharic (official language of Ethiopia). The word tribe refers to the notion of family, clan, sorority.
The idea behind Gossa is to serve the community of dancers by offering them innovative trips. What could be more rewarding than going “as a family” to mythical places to connect with each other, with the mentor and with the local vibe?
