  • 5-6.30pm Dance class with Tebza.
  • 8pm Jam session at the hotel rooftop.

Accommodation

You will be staying at the very stylish Hallmark House. Located in the Maboneng district, this concept hotel offers nice bedrooms, a restaurant, a barber shop, a concept store, a rooftop and a dance studio. Tastefully decorated, the Hallmark House provides bedrooms with flat-screen TV, air conditioning and a private bathroom fitted with a shower and bathrobes.You will share your room with another participant.

Tebza Diphehlo is a South African dancer, teacher and choreographer. He was born in 1993 in Soweto Johannesburg and began his dance journey in 2000. Since then, Tebza has worked tirelessly to perfect his dancing. Today, Tebza is considered a pioneer of Amapiano, Pantsula and other South African urban dance styles. In 2018, he wIns the precious title of South African Champion at the largest international dance festival – Red Bull Dance Your Style. Today, he travels the world to provide workshops, intensive private lessons, for performances, music videos , or to create content as an ambassador, and to judge high level competitions.

SIBUSISO

Guest Teacher

Sibusiso, or Dr Sbu, is a South African dancer and choreographer specialized in Pantsula. As part of his work, he choreographs, performs, hosts events and teaches Pantsula culture.
Sibusiso is currently active with his own dance piece ‘Uhambo Lwamakhehla’, which premiered in South Africa in February 2024.
He also contributed to the production of the Swedish and South African play ‘YEBO YES!’, which premiered in Sweden in 2021.
Sibusiso has toured extensively,
through workshops, battles, performances, seminars and conferences throughout the world. He is the founder of the Dance Rejuvenate Society (DRS) and runs DR SBU'S LAB.

 

TLHOGI

South African Letlhogonolo Molefi begins as a self-taught street dancer and choreographer. Her professional dancing career takes off when she start choreographing for popular dancer and singer Kamo Mphela's music videos, stage performances and dance campaigns. Through her close collaboration with him, she travels the world and teaches the South Africa's most popular dance styles. Recently, she stands out as a choreographer on the Netflix series, Jiva!

Formalities and General information

A valid passport with a blank page is necessary and valid at least 30 days after the return is necessary. It must hava at least two blank pages. Please check if you need a visa depending on your nationality HERE .

No vaccination is mandatory. 

The recommended vaccines are: diphtheria, tetanus, polio, whooping cough, hepatitis B, hepatitis A and typhoid.

The South African currency is the Rand (ZAR).

In December, Johannesburg benefits from around 8 hours of sunshine per day and a pretty warm climate. You still risk having short rains from time to time.

Average temperatures are between 15°C and 27°C but depending on the year they can rise up to 34°C.

Bring light comfortable clothes, sneakers and walking shoes, and a raincoat. 

If you are thinking of going on a safari, bring high shoes and socks to protect yourself from the insects! Obviously, binoculars and a camera, a flashlight, a cap or hat, sunglasses, sunscreen because the sun burns during the day in the parks.

In South Africa, the voltage and frequency are 230 V, 50 Hz.

The prices are 30% to 40% cheaper than in Europe! To eat, count 25 euros per day per person. To get around, count 0.68 euro per kilometer for a taxi. For a local beer (50 cl draft) 30 ZAR or €1.67.

Statistically, Johannesburg remains one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Nevertheless, millions of people live there happily! To avoid being in danger, all you have to do is flee the places at risk and be careful. A few tips: opt for taxis instead of public transport, carry mobile phones in bags and not in your hand, avoid expensive jewelry...

Such an honor for me to welcome passionate Amapiano dancers from all over the world to my hometown! I want you to discover my culture, explore my world, visit the must-see places in the city... during the best time of the year!

For the classes, my goal is to share my experience and the knowledge I have acquired over the years. My classes always begin with the history of the dance style, followed by a phase on the fundamentals then the technique.

If you're looking for a cultural dive and lot of dancing, you don't want to miss this trip! It's going to be craaaazy !
